Separating with a home you own together
When you separate, a lot lands on you at once — and the jointly owned home is often the biggest financial decision in it. There are usually two routes: one of you stays and buys the other out, or you sell the home together.
Both routes start with a reliable value. IMMO helps as a neutral party, discreetly and without judgement, so you can make decisions based on facts rather than emotion.
A first conversation costs nothing and commits you to nothing — together or separately. Afterwards you will know exactly which steps are possible.
How we approach it
- 1
A conversation without obligation
Together or each separately, whatever you prefer. We line up the options: roughly what is the home worth, and what would a buy-out or a sale mean for each of you?
- 2
Validated NWWI valuation
A buy-out or a change to the mortgage requires a validated valuation report. Our NRVT-registered valuer prepares it; the report is accepted by every mortgage lender.
- 3
Buy out or sell
With the valuation in hand you calculate, together with the mortgage adviser at our office, whether a buy-out is feasible. If you decide to sell together, we manage the entire sales process.
- 4
Settlement at the notary
Whether it ends in a deed of division or a transfer to a buyer: we guard the agreements and the planning, so this chapter is closed properly for both of you.
